Our Mission: Empowering the Next Generation of Cancer Fighters
The Student Cancer Outreach and Research Initiative (SCORI) is a youth-led registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing high-quality, open-access resources to students interested in a cancer-related field.
"SCORI has a great mission. High school students have so much capacity to positively impact their communities if they organize and work together to learn about cancer and provide outreach to their study bodies and their communities. Cancer impacts all of us in some ways but overly burdens some communities. All community members should know what cancer is (abnormal cell growth), how they can reduce their risk of cancer, and how they can work with their primary care providers to get timely recommended screenings. Just as important is that communities understand the role of research in preventing, screening for, treating, and supporting those with cancer and their families. The University of Cincinnati Cancer Center has enjoyed working with SCORI to encourage students to become "research ready" by learning the purpose of research, how participants are protected from harm, and why diverse participation is required to all the broad generalization of studies' findings. We look forward to working more closely with SCORI in the future!"
